CLARE DALY’S DEBUT NOVEL

‘OUR DESTINY IS BLOOD’

SECURES CHRISTMAS RETAIL RELEASE

20th NOVEMBER 2017. Following on from the recent release of her debut novel Our Destiny Is Blood on Amazon, Irish author Clare Daly has secured a retail release with Easons O’Connell Street and Dubray Books this busy Christmas period. The book, a gothic vampire tale, will receive it’s official launch at Easons O’Connell Street at 6pm on Friday November 24th. Set during the Irish famine, OUR DESTINY IS BLOOD tells the story of a girl with a dark gift, who flees to New York after a murder, only to become embroiled with a family of vampires.

Maria Dickenson, Managing Director of Dubray Books said: “We’re delighted to be stocking Our Destiny is Blood. There is a real buzz building around the book and we wish Clare every success in her new writing career.”

A former film publicist, Clare has worked for over twenty years in the Irish film industry on numerous Hollywood blockbusters. On taking the decision to self-publish, Clare says: “I, like so many aspiring writers, sought a traditional path for my novel and received rejections. Among them were literary agents who were encouraged by my work, but advised me that publishers were looking to new trends. Though this made my heart sink, I know that readers are still passionate about the genre. Vampires have been around for centuries in literature and there’s a reason they’ve prevailed. My ultimate goal is to have people read my book, so to have it physically stocked in book stores this Christmas is a dream come true.”

Speaking about its famine setting, Clare says: “I’ve always been fascinated by the Great Famine. As a kid in school I remember being devastated learning about it and it has always stuck with me. When it came to beginning my story, the famine was an immediate idea I wanted to explore. Also I don’t think anyone has married the famine and vampires in such a way before, so it felt very fresh to me.” OUR DESTINY IS BLOOD is the first in a planned series, with book two releasing in Spring 2018.

Synopsis

Ireland, 1847. Seventeen-year-old EVELYN MOONEY has just burnt a man to death with her bare hands. Now she has to run, keeping it a secret from her brother MICHAEL, until she can figure it out. Together they flee their famine stricken homeland, crossing the Atlantic to New York and into the household of Russian aristocrat VLADIMIR DERMATOV. But their new master has a secret of his own and when his dead brother makes a miraculous return, the stage is set for a reunion unlike any other. For SASHA is now a vampire, seeking retribution on the brother that left him in the hands of a monster. Their fates will be decided in the mansions of Fifth Avenue and far below them, for a dark force lurks beneath the city who would bring them all together.

NEW IRISH VAMPIRE NOVEL ‘OUR DESTINY IS BLOOD’

SET FOR HALLOWEEN RELEASE

Dublin, 6th October 2017. Irish author Clare Daly will make her debut on Friday the 27th of October, with the release of her gothic vampire novel, OUR DESTINY IS BLOOD. Set during the Irish famine, it tells the story of a girl with a dark gift, who flees to New York after a murder, only to become embroiled with a family of vampires.

A former film publicist, Clare has worked for over twenty years in the Irish film industry on numerous Hollywood blockbusters. The idea for the book sparked from a dream in 2012, when Clare decided to try writing a novel around its central premise – two invincible, immortal people. She says: “It went from an idea where I thought I’d jot down a few chapters to amuse myself into something really that’s transformed my life. I’d always thought of writing a book over the years but with a busy job and a young family, I was pulled in other directions. But when I started writing, I very quickly realised it was the only thing I wanted to do.”

OUR DESTINY IS BLOOD is the first in a planned series, with book two releasing in Spring 2018. Though this made my heart sink, I know that readers are still passionate about the genre. Vampires have been around for centuries in literature and there’s a reason they’ve prevailed. My ultimate goal is to have people read my book, and online platforms like Amazon give me the terrific opportunity to do that – to bring my book to readers in whatever form they like whether that’s digitally or in print.” Speaking about its famine setting, Clare says: “I’ve always been fascinated by the Great Famine.
